Ashtanga 4 Life is all about Ashtanga Yoga as a life long, transformational yoga practice. The primary, intermediate and advanced series of Ashtanga Yoga are gateways for both the body and mind, and the changes and transformations which take place here with steady and consistent effort will remain with you your whole life. Whether you are able to practice asana for ten years, twenty years, your whole life, or if eventually the practice takes you deeper into the other limbs, it is all one path. Once an Ashtangi, always an Ashtangi! That’s what we say.
We are second-generation Ashtangis, learning from our teacher who learned it from Guruji. We created this blog to document our journey to Mysore, India to practice yoga at the Sri K Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute. Ashtanga 4 Life is a space for us to share our love of the practice and discoveries made along the way. Its where we continue to pass along the teachings of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, a man we never met , and explore how his teachings continue to evolve and change since his passing.
Ashtanga 4 Life is also meant to be taken lightly, a bit of a joke amongst all of us Ashtangis who can get pretty “hardcore” about the whole system of practice. Yes, sometimes, we do that too.
